Final IWP

What are the main similarities and differences between childhood and adulthood?

In life you go from being a kid, having fun, playing and being you, to having to grow up to reponcibilities and more struggles.  You need both a childhood and adulthood to become who you are today. Experiences from the past mold you into the person you become in the future and growing up is apart of it. Both childhood and adulthood are similar but their very different.

As a child everything feels like its going by fast. You can go outside wearing a halloween costume or doing what ever silly thing and you would care. As a kid being you isn`t an embaressment. This is one of the main differences between your childhood and adulthood, when your a kid there`s nothing you need to worry about. As a kid you dont need to really worry about 'fitting in' because no matter what as a kid you always find people who have things in common with you. Your carefree and being you which is the best thing about being a kid. Another difference is as a kid you always counted on your parents for everything. You always looked up to parents and saw what they did, sometimes you would wish you could do what they did. Wishing you were older was a popular wish but you wouldn`t  think deeply about it because you were to busy having fun.

Going to work, school, and paying bills is the life of an adult. Everyday waking up early to make a living is the new transition of being an adult. As kid you want to become an adult and an adult always wishes they could go back and be a kid again. Life is no game after growing up, you have to worry about more people but your self. Having a family and a job is more than it seems when you see adults as a kid. Growing up into this transition you realize things you thought were stupid or obsessed about before were really nothing. For example most kids watch Disney a popular movie High School Musical is watched by many kids. As kid you loved the movie, the songs in it and every person in it. Now as an adult and watching it a couple years older you think back and you just wonder why you loved this soo much. Why you looked up to most of the characters in the movie. This is becasue you`ve had more experiences in life and understand reality in a different way but then that was your fantasy and dream for your future. Being an adult is a flash of reality and thats why everyone wishes they could be a kid again.

Being a kid has its ups and so does beign an adult. As life go`s along you always wanted to be an adult or a kid but either way they have an impact on each other. Being a kid shows you a brighter side of life and being an adult is a more reality filled momments of life. Being a teenager is inbetween both these major changes in life and its hard because you think you know everything when you don`t but no matter how old you are you`ll never know everything.

Final Romeo and Juliet Essay

Love has its perks and it`s downsides, it`s like a battle no matter what the circumstances. People fight for the ones they love because they care and want to be with this person. Doing the impossible is what it may feel like but at the end if it`s right then it will surely be worth it. This is proven in the story of Rome and Juliet by William Shakespeare.  Meeting by accident a love sprung that couldn't be separated, this is what it’s like today. Like teenage couples today traditions and age do affect their relationships in big ways.

One similarity between Romeo and Juliet and couples today is parents forbid their children from being with people of a different religion / traditions. These religious or traditional factors play a role in the relationship because there will rarely be agreements with the parents and or community. In Romeo and Juliet, Juliet’s parents already have a specific person that Juliet is supposed to marry. This news was brought up to Juliet by her mother. Juliet doesn’t even know Paris and she already has to like him because either way she will marry him but she tells her mother “I’ll look to like, if looking liking move. But no more will I endart mine art eye than your consent gives strength to make it fly” (1.4 102-105). Basically saying she will try to like Paris. Many issues can come up during this relationship for example certain family/ cultural requirements that need to be followed by the child. For example Capulet says to Juliet “Hang thee, young disobedient wretch! I tell thee what: get to church o’ Thursday, Or never to look me in the face” ( 3.5 166-168) . He says this because Juliet fights against marrying Paris and tries to get to agreement with her father but can’t. These types of arguments are very different ones that parents can have with their teens today. Today they might discuss who or what the intentions of this person is with your child, etc. but still very similar morals.

Parents often let their children date at a certain age because of maturity and responsibility. Most teens see this as their parents as controlling their lives and not letting them have the freedom they would like. In most cases this is good advice from their parents to stay to but not always followed. In Romeo and Juliet, Juliet is talking to Friar Lawrence about how Romeo is banished form Verona and Friar Lawrence says “And this distilling liquor drink thou off; When presently through all thy veins shall run” ( 4.1 95-96). He is encouraging her to fake a death and to later go with Romeo. Even though it may sound like he’s helping he only made things a bigger of an issue. This is where most parents worry about today. Some teens think that it`s ok to run off but it’s really not. This is also a way for complications to occur in the relationship because of all in obstacles in between

In conclusion many teen relationships are alike and different to the story Romeo and Juliet. Growing with decisions, acceptance and what can come in between love. Romeo and Juliet proved that love surely isn’t easy but it is always worth it if you care. Romeo and Juliet showed that isn`t easy and that things cant always turn out right. Sometimes honesty is better than a sad ending to the beginning of a love story.

Essay on Romeo and Juliet

Love has its perks and it`s downsides, it`s like a battle no matter what the circumstances. People fight for the ones they love because they care and want to be with this person. Doing the impossible is what it may feel like but at the end if it`s right then it will surely be worth it. This is proven in the story of Rome and Juliet. Meeting by accident a love sprung that couldn’t be separated, this is what it’s like today. Romeo and Juliet tells the story of two lovers who would do anything to be together somewhat similar and different to teenage couples today.
Romeo and Juliet couldn’t be together because of family egos but today in certain cultures two people can’t be together for religious purposes. Today in some cultures there are arranged marriages but most common is when people pick who they want to marry.
Even though it may sound like he’s helping he only made things a bugger of an issue. This is where most parents worry about today. Some teens think that it`s ok to run off but it’s really not.

Family grudges and egos aren’t the only thing that can keep a couple from falling apart. Many issues can come up during this relationship for example certain family/ cultural requirements that need to be followed by the child. For example in Capulet says to Juliet “Hang thee, young disobedient wretch! I tell thee what: get to church o’ Thursday, Or never to look me in the face” ( 3.5 166-168) . He says this because Juliet fights against marrying Paris and tries to get to agreement with her father but can’t. These types of arguments are very different ones that parents can have with their teens today. Today they might discuss who or what the intentions of this person is with your child, etc. very different to the ones back then.
In conclusion many teen relationships are alike and different to the story Romeo and Juliet. Growing with decisions, acceptance and what can come in between love. Romeo and Juliet proved that love surely isn’t easy but it is always worth it if you care. As for teen couples today these type of real stories don’t exist because of change in era, heritage and traditions in modern society.

Blog post #1: Pray For Boston

This past Monday one of the memorable terrorist attacks has happend in Boston. People in happiness cheering and celebrating the end of the race when the sound of a cannon went off. At first people thought it a celebratory cannon but they realized a second later that it really wasn't. People went in every direction possible then another bomb went off. A few minutes later the police, paramedics and volunteers came to help those on the ground and those who were sobbing  on the sides. Over all those injured were 187 and people in serious amputations were 13. Police didn't let any one through or people leave. The police till today haven't had any conclusions to who was responsible for this but who ever it was is going to face major charges of terrorism.

After hearing this news on Monday, I couldn't believe how many bad things can happen at  any time.   Being at something do peaceful like a marathon dedicated to the kids of Sandy Hook Elementary School was turned into something sad and brings back awful memories. Many people were running and their it is awful how some families saw their relatives get hurt or have their legs blown off by this bomb. It scares me in a way that you can go to enjoy something and then something can happen. Anything can happen I just think it's sad how people need to drag others down with them. inocent people amputated, injured and dead because someone felt like it. I hope the people of Boston and families are going to be ok. I hope the person who did this gets a fair enough punishment for what he did to hundreds of people.

Non Fiction: Loud Headphones

Many roomers and controversies have been going around of how mayor Bloomberg wants to limit the sound of your head phones. Most New Yorkers use these headphone on a regular day basis and are used to the level of sound. Many of these headphones such as Beats or SONY headphones are beyond average sound, which is why many New Yorkers use them. The question is, is this good? People do this all the time and studies show that they have impacted the hearing of teenagers. All these people and users of these products might suffer consequences of hearing them for too long and too much, but should they? Many people interviewed said no that they companies should be responsible. Nothing is official yet but their will be a decision and which ever one is made won`t make certain people happy.

After reading this article it made me realize how true it is and how i could relate. All day on the news hearing this new thing that the mayor was going to do made think about the thousands of people who do this. This has now become a way of life for most because people are so used to it that taking it away would be like living with out ears. Ok, they`ll still be able to listen to them but a lot of people only buy these headphones just to hear the loudness of it. I think that people should be aware of the consequences. Maybe make ads, commercials just to worn people;how ever i think that their are far more serious issues in New York that should be solved. For example the conflict with people getting pushed into the train and hum-sides that are way more serious than the volume of headphones.

Non Fiction: Let's Move

" Lets Move" is the name of Michelle Obama`s new campaign to decrease obesity rates in young kids. In the past year obesity rates in children have increased a lot. In fact in Chicago 6,000 children have to increase physical education. Many kids are overweight and so for Michelle Obama`s first anniversary for " Lets Move" she wants to have kids inspired and see the importance of being healthy and active. For inspiration Ms. Obama wants to make and insiring film and to keep them healthy is an increase in physical education in schools. Ms. Obama says that " I need kids in my life. They keep me focused; they keep me motivated.

A national tour of Michelle Obama`s Let`s Move campaign is currently being planned out and in the process of getting to as many schools as possible. Ms. Obama`s goal is to make loosing weight as easy and fun as possible. To help this be possible Ms. Obama has sponsors like Nike and other companies to found money for new courts and places to move. Not all people can make this possible for their kids so Ms. Obama plans to get as many founds to grant these programs to those kids.

After reading this article it has made me aware of how alert you need to be about your weight. A brighter future also means a healthier future and that's exactly what many parents want for their children. Having awareness in school and having a leader such as Ms. Obama should inspire most kids. I think that Ms. Obama is doing more than most leaders and taking a big stand for children in the U.S. Helping families who cant afford programs like this for these kids is really heart warming and is something worth fighting for. If a good future isn't in the reach of these children than what is their future? This campagain and program should flourish and be heard a lot more
