Final Romeo and Juliet Essay

Love has its perks and it`s downsides, it`s like a battle no matter what the circumstances. People fight for the ones they love because they care and want to be with this person. Doing the impossible is what it may feel like but at the end if it`s right then it will surely be worth it. This is proven in the story of Rome and Juliet by William Shakespeare.  Meeting by accident a love sprung that couldn't be separated, this is what it’s like today. Like teenage couples today traditions and age do affect their relationships in big ways.

One similarity between Romeo and Juliet and couples today is parents forbid their children from being with people of a different religion / traditions. These religious or traditional factors play a role in the relationship because there will rarely be agreements with the parents and or community. In Romeo and Juliet, Juliet’s parents already have a specific person that Juliet is supposed to marry. This news was brought up to Juliet by her mother. Juliet doesn’t even know Paris and she already has to like him because either way she will marry him but she tells her mother “I’ll look to like, if looking liking move. But no more will I endart mine art eye than your consent gives strength to make it fly” (1.4 102-105). Basically saying she will try to like Paris. Many issues can come up during this relationship for example certain family/ cultural requirements that need to be followed by the child. For example Capulet says to Juliet “Hang thee, young disobedient wretch! I tell thee what: get to church o’ Thursday, Or never to look me in the face” ( 3.5 166-168) . He says this because Juliet fights against marrying Paris and tries to get to agreement with her father but can’t. These types of arguments are very different ones that parents can have with their teens today. Today they might discuss who or what the intentions of this person is with your child, etc. but still very similar morals.

Parents often let their children date at a certain age because of maturity and responsibility. Most teens see this as their parents as controlling their lives and not letting them have the freedom they would like. In most cases this is good advice from their parents to stay to but not always followed. In Romeo and Juliet, Juliet is talking to Friar Lawrence about how Romeo is banished form Verona and Friar Lawrence says “And this distilling liquor drink thou off; When presently through all thy veins shall run” ( 4.1 95-96). He is encouraging her to fake a death and to later go with Romeo. Even though it may sound like he’s helping he only made things a bigger of an issue. This is where most parents worry about today. Some teens think that it`s ok to run off but it’s really not. This is also a way for complications to occur in the relationship because of all in obstacles in between

In conclusion many teen relationships are alike and different to the story Romeo and Juliet. Growing with decisions, acceptance and what can come in between love. Romeo and Juliet proved that love surely isn’t easy but it is always worth it if you care. Romeo and Juliet showed that isn`t easy and that things cant always turn out right. Sometimes honesty is better than a sad ending to the beginning of a love story.
